Error Starting SQL Services Post Restart Of Machine Or System
Recently it happened to me. I was using a SandBox and Had sql server installed on it. I restarted this box and the SQL Services did not came up. I tried starting the SQL Services and was stuck with below error.
As said in Error, I went in event logs and found that the services did not start because of below error.
The SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not start due to a logon failure.
I was amazed, why this is happening, SQL Services which was running fine just after restart getting this error. Then I remembered that I had configured the SQL Server to run on my AD account rather than service account. I had changed password some couple of months back, then why this error poped up now. The case is the credentials as cached and until you restart the SQL Services, even if you change password it wont affect.
Then All I did is changed the SQL Server Service Password for my account and then bang services were up.
How to change Password you can find article here. How To Change SQL Server Service Account Password.
