User '' does not have required permissions. Verify that sufficient permissions have been granted and Windows User Account Control (UAC) restrictions have been addressed.

You have installed SQL Server Reporting Services may be 2008, 2008R2 or 2012. You are a domain user and you are local Administrator on the machine in which you have installed and configured reporting Services. You open your browser and type in the ReportManager URL ex http://machineName/Reports, you are hit with below error.

"User 'Domain\Username' does not have required permissions. Verify that sufficient permissions have been granted and Windows User Account Control (UAC) restrictions have been addressed."

Frustrating, isnt it. Even though you are Domain User and Local Admin you find this Error. Yes, its quite normal. Ideally when you are Local Administrator you should be having rights to open ReportManager without any extra rights, but unfortunately this is how Reporting Service Manager works.

To Resolve this, which is a work around,

1. Open your Browser as Administrator and enter the Report Manager URL ex, http://machinename/Reports

2. Now, you will be able to open Report Manager, go to Site Setting on the Top Right Corner and click Site Settings.

3. Under Site settings, click on Security Tab, and then click New Role Assignment, as you can see here even though BUILTIN\Administrators are system Administrator, you will not be able to open ReportManager initially.

4.Under New Role Assignment, In Group or User name: provide the Domain\Username from which you tried earlier to access the report manager and assign permission required, Click Ok and close the browser.

5. Now open the brower normally and you should be able to Open the ReportManager and See the Home Screen. Well this dint work? No issues.

6. Again open the browser as Administrator and now click now Folder Settings

7.Under Folder settings, in security Tab, again click on New Role Assignment,as you can see here even though BUILTIN\Administrators are Content Manager, you will not be able to open see home screen initially.

8.Under New Role Assignment, In Group or User name: provide the Domain\Username from which you tried earlier to access the report manager and assign permission required, Click Ok and close the browser.

Now open the brower normally and I bet you will be able to Open the ReportManager and See the Home Screen.
