How to Configure Central Management Server in SQL Server

In my previous post I had written about SQL Server Central Management Server (CMS)

Now let us see how to Configure Central Management Server in SQL Server step by step.

1. Open SQL Server Management Studio, Go to View and Click on Registered Servers as shown below.

2. Under Registered Servers, Right Click Central Management Server and Click Register Central Management Server as shown below.

3. In New Server Registration Window, Enter the Server Name which you want to make as Central Management Server in Server name: In which i have entered Localhost for test, Click on Test to Test connection to Server, Once the connection is tested successfully click on and Click on Save as shown below. Done, you have configured and Registered Server successfully.

4. Once you have configured the Central Management Server you can do the operation such as Running A New Query, Register a server or a group and add servers to group, Import policies, evaluate policies etc as shown below.
